Three terrorists were killed during a forest operation at Bona Wudar near Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday.

A police spokesman here said that troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group of the state police on specific information surrounded a forest area on Sunday morning during which the terrorists fired at the cordoning troops.

"The fire was immediately returned by the joint search parties of RR and SOG, triggering a gunfight that continued till late this evening during which three unidentified terrorists were killed," the spokesman said.

"The operation has now ended, and bodies of the three terrorists have been recovered along with two AK-47 rifles, one AK-56 rifle, nine magazines and three pouches."

Last week four militants and two army troopers were killed in three separate encounters in north Kashmir.
