The Karnataka police claimed  on Wednesday to have gathered clues after questioning over 200 persons, including Students Islamic Movement of India members, in connection with the serial blasts that rocked Bangalore in July, a top police official said in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

"We are making progress in the probe," joint commissioner of police, Gopal Hosur told PTI. "A large number of people have been questioned and clues gathered," he said.

Those being questioned included a student of an arts and architecture college from Bijapur, an investigating official said. The youth has been involved in various activities of SIMI and efforts are on to find out "if he could lead us to making further progress into the probe," Hosur said.

The youth, the official suggested, could offer some vital clues to the probe but refused to elaborate. On whether the youth could also connected with the blast in Delhi, Jaipur and Hyderabad, he said "right now our focus is on the Bangalore blast".

On how far the case was from being cracked, Hosur was non-commital on the time frame."We could be one-day away or three months away. It is a matter of perception, We are working hard on the case and are gathering various clues related to it", he said.
