Advani calls Zardari, extends support to talks

Leader of opposition Lal Kishenchand Advani [ Images ] on Wednesday extended his full support for the India-Pakistan dialogue process, as he felicitated Asif Ali Zardari [ Images ] on assuming office of the president of Pakistan.

In a telephone conversation, senior Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] leader Advani expressed hope that relations between the two neighbouring countries would improve during Zardari's tenure as president.

While extending his full support for the Pakistan-India dialogue process, Advani wished for the success of President Zardari, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said.

Zardari, the co-chairman of the ruling Pakistan People's Party, was sworn in as president on Tuesday.

Advani is BJP's prime ministerial candidate for the general election in India [ Images ] scheduled for next year.
