Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Vaiko met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, seeking his urgent intervention in the Sri Lankan issue.

Vaiko, a staunch supporter of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, has been alleging that India is supplying arms and ammunition to the Sri Lankan Army, which has upped its operations against the banned outfit recently, and lodged a protest with the prime minister over the Sri Lankan offensive against the minority Tamils.

The leader from Tamil Nadu arrived in New Delhi on Monday, and is also expected to meet Election Commission officials regarding a case involving his party.
