Reiterating his party's commitment to provide equal development opportunities to all in Jammu and Ksahmir, the Peoples' Democratic Party has said 'self rule' was the only viable solution for removing regional disparities in the state.
"The idea of Self Rule being propagated by the party was the only and viable solution for removing regional disparities and to fulfil aspirations and wishes of all sections of the society," PDP vice president and MLC Ved Mahajan said, while addressing a public meeting at Bajalta area of Nagrota (Jammu) Assembly constituency on Sunday.
It ensures equal opportunities of development to all regions and sub-regions of the State, Mahajan added.
Referring to the demand of provincial council for Jammu put forward by former Union Minister and BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, he said, "demand of the provincial council by the BJP is vindication of the stand taken by the PDP to decentralise the power."
He also informed the gathering that the PDP, through its proposal of 'self rule,' has been advocating the idea of empowerment of all the regions and sub-regions of the state.
