Karnataka has become a 'hide-out' for terrorists and the government was taking all steps to make it an 'anti-terror' state, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said on Sunday.
The measures included strengthening of the police force and deploying extra personnel to keep a watch on the activities of SIMI, he told media persons in Hubli.
Efforts are being made to ensure that all universities and technical college campuses are free from terrorist activities, he said.
Yeddyurappa's comments come in the wake of the arrest of four terror suspects, allegedly belonging to Indian Mujahideen, at Mangalore. The four were arrested by Mumbai and Karnataka police in a joint operation on Friday for their alleged involvement in serial blasts in Delhi.
Budgetary allocation of Rs 25 crore would be made for strengthening the police force, he said.
Yeddyurappa said he had spoken to the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Saturday on the law and order situation and the latter had 'expressed satisfaction', but did not elaborate.
Yeddyurappa said he would discuss with the Home department officials and police on providing extra security during Dussehra festivities.
"Few forces were trying to block development in the state but his government had been consistently focusing on development since it came to power," he said.
