Asserting that the militants on the other side of the international border are enjoying the support of Pakistani forces during infiltration bids, the Border Security Force on Friday lodged a strong protest with its Pakistani counterpart over the ceasefire violation and infiltration bids in Jammu.

"The BSF has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan Rangers at Border Outpost on the international border in Jammu frontier over an attempt to push in ultras under the cover of Pak firing in Tent Post in Kanachak area of Jammu district on October 1," BSF officials said.

The protests were registered by the BSF with Chinab Rangers at company commanders' meeting at Tent Post in Kana Chak area of the district.

The company commander of BSF has shown them proofs of infiltration attempts, firing and grenade blast marks, they said.

Pakistan commanders, however, termed them as handiwork of militants and promised to probe into the incident, they said adding that BSF has expressed concerns over such incidents.

Three to four militants tried to infiltrate into Indian territory under the cover of Pakistan's firing in Tent Post area in Kanachak area of Jammu district on October 1, which was foiled by BSF troops.

"There are repeated infiltration bids from Pakistan. When we protest, they deny. The repeated infiltration bids on IB recently shows that militants on the other side are enjoying the support of Pakistani forces," Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG), (Intelligence), BSF, J B Sangwan said.

"It seems that they have not done enough in this regard so far. On the other hand, BSF has re-assessed the situation and taken various measures to prevent the infiltrations effectively," he said.

There have been three cases of ceasefire violations, firing and infiltration bid on International Border in Jammu sector in the past six days.

On October 1, BSF troops foiled an infiltration bid along international border at Tent Post in Kanachak sub-sector of
Jammu district as Pakistani rangers opened small arms firing on the post to push in a group of militants.

In a similar incident on September 27, Pakistan troops under the cover of its firing, tried to push in militants into India via Chak Fagwari area in Pargwal belt on Jammu, which was also foiled by the BSF.

On September 22, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and opened fire on Indian posts along the LoC in Tarkundi forward areas in Poonch district during which four militants were killed.

In another incident on September 18, there was firing from Pakistan across the LoC on the forward posts of Panjal
and Kopra of Poonch district.

However, the Indian army's Director General of Military Operations and BSF had strongly protested to their Pakistani counterparts over the ceasefire violations, especially during the Samba, Kanachak, Poonch, Rajouri, Tangdhar, Uri, Nowgam, Machial and Kupwara firing and LoC breaches.

Over 126 infiltration bids were reported in nine months from Pakistan, as militants felt that the summer was the best time of the year to augment their depleting strength in the valley.
