About 200 additional commandos of the elite National Security Guards were sent on Thursday as reinforcements to deal with the situation arising out of the terror attacks in the metropolis.
"Commandos of an equal strength, as sent on Wednesday, are being sent by air to Mumbai as reinforcements," a National Security Guards spokesperson in Delhi said.
On Wednesday, 200 NSG commandos were sent to Mumbai after terrorists struck with impunity in the country's financial capital setting off coordinated multiple blasts and gunfire in a dozen areas, including the crowded CST railway station and two five star hotels--Taj and The Trident.
The additional commandos will serve as a backup to the already dispatched force as the operation is spread to three
places.
"The hotels are too big. The additional commandos will assist in the operations as soon as they reach there," the
spokesperson said.
The NSG and other security forces have moved into Mumbai's landmark hotels to overwhelm an unspecified number of
terrorists still holed out there after several residents were rescued in the wee hours of Thursday.
