A massive protest march against the recent serial blasts, attended by people from all sections of the society, brought vehicular traffic to a grinding halt in Guwahati on Tuesday afternoon.
Over 35,000 people participated in the rally, which was organised by the All Assam Students' Union to protest against the rise of terrorist and fundamentalist forces in the state.

"The dastardly blasts that claimed over 90 lives and injured hundreds in the four districts of the state on October 30 have forced us to organise this mass protest. People from all parts of the state and all walks of life have converged here to take part in the protest rally. The perpetrator of violence should see the writing on the wall," said a senior leader of the AASU.
The AASU leaders pointed out that the tremendous response to the protest rally proved that the people of Assam denounced violence and terrorism.

AASU also sounded a warning about the growth of religious fundamentalism and fundamentalist outfits in the state and demanded stern action by the government to neutralise these forces.
