Bhartiya Janshakti Party (BJS) national president Uma Bharti on Friday blamed the media for blowing out of proportion the incident when she had slapped twice a worker of her party at Chhindwara.
"My slapping the worker was not a big deal at all but the only thing was that it was captured on camera by a private news channel," she told PTI.
The BJS President had slapped a district party office bearer, Anil Rai on November 5, for allegedly disturbing a meeting between Bharti and several persons by repeatedly calling them over their mobile phones.
Bharti said that had the incident not been captured on camera, no one would have come to know about it and the person who was slapped would also not have left the party.
The BJS president said that not only she but some other political leaders also slap their workers but this was not meant to be taken seriously.
When told that many office-bearers of her party had resigned in protest against the slapping incident, Bharti said that she will persuade them to withdraw their resignations and continue with the party.
