Having arrested a serving army officer and a retired Major in connection with Malegaon blast, Mumbai police and central security agencies are probing the role of some more members of the armed forces, including another high-ranking official, for funding the incident.

The Anti Terrorist Squad of Mumbai Police and sleuths of intelligence agencies are also trying to find the laptop of arrested Lt Col Srikant P Purohit, which had gone missing since October 29, the day the accused was transferred to Mumbai for assisting the investigations.

The laptop could throw further light on the conspiracy behind the blast that took place in the communally-sensitive town of Maharashtra on September 29 killing six persons, sources said.

It could not be officially confirmed whether an ATS team from Maharashtra is in the national capital for further probe and seek the army's help in solving the missing links in the case.

Purohit was working with the Army Liaison Cell, a front of Military Intelligence, and was learning Chinese and Arabic in Panchmari in Madhya Pradesh.

Sources said it was believed that some of the money from the funds, meant for operational purposes of Military Intelligence, had been allegedly siphoned off by Purohit for setting up the Abhinav Bharat, a little known saffron group.
