A group of Shiv Sena activists on Tuesday set on fire the office of Rashtravadi Shiv Sena in the national capital in 'retaliation' to Monday's attack on the Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi.

The blaze was reported from the headquarters of the Rashtravadi Shiv Sena in Shahdara in north-east Delhi at around 9:10 am and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

Owning responsibility for the attack, Shiv Sena North India in-charge Sandeep Kulkarni said the attack was mainly against 'tarnishing' the image of his party and its leaders.

"It was a spontaneous reaction by Sainiks angered by the insult of the Sena leaders by the Rashtravadi Shiv Sena. It was a befitting reply to those who attacked the Maharashtra Sadan," he told reporters.

He also accused Rashtravadi Shiv Sena chief Jaibhagwan Goyal of trying to 'unnecessarily' blame the Shiv Sena in the Marathi-North Indian row.

The attack on the party office comes a day after activists of the Rashtravadi Shiv Sena, which was formed to counter Shiv Sena's anti-north Indian stand, attacked the Maharashtra Sadan, demanding the arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.

Goyal has demanded the immediate arrest of the MNS chief under the National Security Act, failing which the party threatened to further intensify its attack.
