The Assam government is setting up a special Research and Analysis wing within the Special Branch of Assam police to study and document activities, 'terror psychology' of various terror groups, both within and outside, that are active or at least have links to the state.
An official source informed that the R& A wing within the police was mooted by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi during the Cabinet meeting to review the post serial blasts situation in the state to keep abreast of change in terror tactics, new terror technologies, modus operandi and ideology among terror groups so that the police personnel as well as the common people could be kept alert about those from now on wards.
The research and analysis works would be specially focused on terror groups having shelters and training in neighbouring Bangladesh for the reason that those terrors groups, be it the banned ULFA or any other North East militant group or Islamic fundamentalist outfit out to destabilize India, are operating from the neighbouring country's soil and are guided basically by same motives or ideology, if any.
A source informed that the investigating team probing the serial explosions was on the right track. The police have got the sketches of at least two blast suspects prepared by the experts on the basis on information provided by a city-based Lawyer and the investigating team is now leafing through records of criminals in police files to match the sketches which will be ultimately made public to gather information about the suspects.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to introduce modern technology and gadgets in all designated parking places in the state to keep records of vehicles parked there along with the pictures of the drivers/ owners and inmates.
