The Assam Police on Sunday arrested two more persons in connection with Thursday's serial blasts even as Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced the constitution of a Special Task Force within the state police to investigate into all terror crimes.
Gogoi said the Special Task Force would be constituted on the lines of the Greyhound force in Andhra Pradesh, while advocating for tougher laws to deal with terrorists.
Gogoi said insurgents and anti-Indian forces operating from the soil of neighbouring Bangladesh had been a major impediment in containing terror. "As long as anti-India forces will get shelter in foreign soil, it will be difficult to prevent terror acts within the country, " the CM said.
"The investigation to the blasts has acquired a direction and it will take time to come to a conclusion. Forces within and outside the country joined hands to trigger the blasts," Gogoi said advocating tougher laws to deal with terrorism .
Gogoi said that Assam government was contemplating enacting certain laws to deal with terrorists so that those arrested couldn't get away easily.
Meanwhile, the Assam police has arrested two persons identified as Muzzamil Haque and Anwar ul Haque in Lakhimpur district in north Assam in connection with blasts and claim to have recovered a Bangladeshi visa from one of them.
They were arrested on the basis of clues gathered from already the detained persons.
The arrested persons were involved in car theft of the vehicles that were used for the blasts in Guwahati and Bongaigaon.
The accused are being brought to Guwahati for interrogation by the Special Investigation Team probing the blasts.
