A 28-year-old man has been detained from a lodge in Raigad district's Mangaon town in connection with the Jaipur serial blasts case by the Rajasthan police.

Imran Qazi, a native of Mhasala tehsil's Pangaloli village, was picked up by Rajasthan police's state intelligence department in a joint operation with the local police on Tuesday and has been taken to Rajasthan, police said.

Qazi, a ClassX passout from an English medium school, is suspected to have been present in Jaipur on the day of the blasts on May 13. He travelled to Mumbai from there and stayed with a bar girl in the financial capital for some days, they said.

On learning that the police were on the chase of suspects, Imran came to Mangaon town situated on the Mumbai-Goa national highway and started staying in lodges, police said. "He had shaved off his beard and hair in order to escape from being identified and used to frequently shift from one lodge to another.

He did not visit his native place Pangloli situated nearby on the fears of being caught by police after identification," said a police officer.

After finishing his schooling in his native village of Pangloli, Qazi went to Mumbai in search of livelihood where he is suspected to have come in touch with fundamentalists. According to the police, Qazi has also travelled to Nigeria and Dubai earlier. Qazi has been taken to Rajasthan for interrogation and his role in the serial blasts case was not known. 65 persons were killed in seven synchronised explosions in the walled city of Jaipur on the evening of May 13 this year.
