The Congress party has lashed out at Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia for her comments that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had visited the state to do politics over the bodies of those who died in the Jaipur serial blasts rather than express sympathy.
Addressing media persons at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said, "If this is true, then why did BJP leader LK Advani visit the state a day before Sonia's trip. The Congress chief has been reaching out to the grief-struck people and victims of calamities."
Taking a dig at the Rajasthan chief minister, Tewari claimed that 'after 8 pm there is no CM.' He also said that she had failed to act on warnings issued by central intelligence agencies on a possible terror attack in Jaipur.
The BJP, meanwhile, is training its guns on the United Progressive Alliance government and has voicing its resentment over the Centre's anti-terror policies.
Party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that the UPA government was soft peddling on terror, which according to him was reflected from the fact that the number of terrorists killed had come down from 2,500 to 1,185.
"The withdrawal of POTA caused demoralized security forces and created a feeling that the political leadership's resolve to fight terrorism was floundering," he said, calling for the need to give a green signal to stringent laws to fight terrorism.
