The suspects in the Scarlette murder case have denied the charges leveled against them, terming them as far fetched and concocted.

Placido Carvalho, who was questioned by the police for his alleged role in the case stated in an application while seeking anticipatory bail that he saw Scarlette for the first time at a shack on the Anjuna beach.

In his application, he also said that when he saw Scarlette she was in a totally inebriated condition.

"She had a bottle in her hand and continued drinking. I was having a drink in the kitchen at that time. Masala ( the British witness) and the manager of the shack Samson were also present at the shack that night," Carvalho said.

Samson is the man against whom the police have registered a case of rape.

Carvalho says in his application that there was a man called Murli with Scarlette. He overheard her asking Murli for Julio Lobo's number. She also requested Murli to drop her to Siolim. Murli, however, did not drop her to Siolim, but offered her a lift to another shack by the name Curlies. The two of them left the place at around 4.30 am.

Five minutes after they left, Samson left the shack and after some time, Masala too left the shack. I got to know about the death only the next afternoon.

Lobo, who claims to be a family friend of Scarlette and in whose care her mother Fiona is supposed to have left her, also claimed innocence in his application. He too had been questioned by the police for his alleged role in this case.

Lobo says that he last saw Scarlette at a hotel called Bean Me Up at the Anjuna beach.

He said Scarlette was to meet a Spanish girl called Ruby. He then left the place and when he returned to Bean Me Up, he saw only Ruby's brother over there. He said that Ruby's brother thought that the two girls were with him.

The next morning, he met Ruby who in turn told him that Scarlette had left for her room the previous night itself. When I told her that she was not in her room, Ruby told me that she could have gone to Curlies.

I rushed there, but she was not there too, Lobo said in his application.
