Leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom on Monday said it would  continue to fight against terrorism in the country and its recent edict on the menace has no underlying meaning.

"Muslim clerics will continue to fight against terrorism in the country," Darul Uloom's deputy vice- chancellor Maulana Usman said.

He, however, criticised some organisations, which questioned the clerics' anti-terrorism campaign and the recent fatwa issued against terror.

Without naming any organisation, Usman, who is the new president of Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind, said people who question "our anti-terrorism move are themselves perpetrators of terrorism".

"We are busy promoting Islamic teachings of love and harmony whereas certain organisations brandish swords and lathis openly," he said.

Clerics from across the country under the banner of the influential Darul Uloom in Deoband town of Uttar Pradesh had last month come out against terrorism, terming it as "un-Islamic".

Denouncing terrorism in all its manifestations, Muslim ulemas adopted a declaration at the anti-terrorism conference, terming terror to be against Islam's principle of peace.
