A Border Security Force jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Constable Abdul Hamid, posted in the 81st battalion, shot himself inside his room at a camp in Trehgam area of Kupwara district, sources said. They said the jawan had performed his sentry duty normally at the camp before the incident.
The other guards rushed to his room and shifted him to hospital where he succumbed, the sources said, adding the motive behind his act was not immediately known.
