The Bangalore police, acting on information provided by the military intelligence, have detained six people belonging to the banned Peoples Revolutionary Party of Kaglipak, which is based in Manipur.

Bangalore Police Commissioner N Achuth Rao said on Saturday that the six persons belonging to the outfit, which was banned by the government, have over 25 cases of murder and abduction registered against them.

Rao said that the six people had come to Bangalore to avoid arrest by the Manipur police. He said that the six persons were planning to start their operations in Bangalore and had plotted to abduct government officials in Manipur.

The Manipur police are expected to reach Bangalore and take over the investigation. However, the police have no pointers about the group's involvement in illegal activities in Karnataka.

The six people have been remanded to ten days police custody.
