Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it did not expect the Left to pull down the government in the wake of the recent stand-off on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

PM wants to quit over nuclear deal

Talking to media persons in New Delhi, BJP president Rajnath Singh said, "They have tasted power for the last four years and it is difficult for them to abandon it on an issue."

"The supposed benefit for the country or the nuclear deal has nothing to do with the Communist Party of India-Marxist. All that the Left parties are worried about is China's interest. They are afraid that US and India may together corner China," he said.

Singh denied reports of change in the party's stand on the deal.

"Our stand remains unchanged. We are opposed to the deal in the present form as it is not in the interest of the country," he added.
