The Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami, which has been maintaining a low-profile for some time, is planning a second terror attack on Ajmer, according to Intelligence Bureau sources.
Intelligence Bureau sources told rediff.com that the HuJI, an offshoot of the dreaded Laskhar-e-Tayiba, plans to send across a double message through this operation.
The police crackdown on the Bangladeshi immigrants following the Jaipur blasts has not gone down too well with the outfit. Moreover, the HuJI wants to strike when the maximum numbers of devotees visit the Ajmer dargah in July.
The IB has already alerted the Rajasthan police, asking them to beef up security at the dargah.
In a letter to the Rajasthan police, the HuJI has demanded that all Bangladeshis in police custody be released immediately and the crackdown on Bangladeshi immigrants stop immediately.
The investigations into the Ajmer blasts, which eventually hit a roadblock, had initially named HuJI as the mastermind behind the blasts.
An IB dossier states that the dargah has been under the terrorist scanner for two reasons. The terrorists disapprove of the dargah, which is thronged by both Hindu and Muslim devotees. The numerous pilgrims visiting the dargah also make it a likely terror target, as a blast here would claim hundreds of lives.
However, IB sources point out that this may be a tactic by the HuJI to divert the attention of the security forces.
