Somnath will write to Karat about his expulsion

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee [ Images ], who has so far maintained silence about his expulsion from the Communist Party of India [ Images ] – Marxist, is planning to write a letter to party General Secretary Prakash Karat [ Images ], according to sources.

Chatterjee reportedly told his close aides that he would write a letter to Karat and seek an explanation for his expulsion.

The CPI-M [ Images ] had expelled Chatterjee on Wednesday for refusing to resign as the Speaker, after the Left Front withdrew its support from the United Progressive Alliance [ Images ] government.

Chatterjee had also expressed his displeasure over the Left Front voting against the government along with the Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ].
