The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Saturday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should have consulted Sikhs on the India-US nuclear deal before seeking the party's support on the sensitive issue.
"The Sikh prime minister of India never consulted us (the community) on this issue. Then, how can we support him?" SAD (Amritsar) chief Simarnjit Singh Mann told reporters in Chandigarh.
Asked what was his party's stand on the nuclear deal, he said, "We do not mind the deal if India denuclearises, signs Non-Proliferation Treaty and Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and puts all its reactors under International Atomic Energy Agency controls."
