The police on Friday arrested a man suspected to have been involved in the Ajmer blast in 2006.
"The Special Operations Group on Friday nabbed one Saeed Mota in an encounter near the Armapur canal. Saeed is a suspect in the Ajmer blasts of 2006. Based on some newspaper reports, which mentioned his alleged involvement in the blasts, we grilled him only to learn that he was in Ajmer during that period. We have also informed the Ajmer police about this." Senior Superintendent of Police, Kanpur, A K Singh said on Friday.
The Ajmer police is shortly expected to reach Kanpur for further interrogation.
The police has recovered Rs 10,000 in cash from Saeed along with a .32 bore country-made pistol and live cartridges.
Saeed has a dozen of criminal cases registered against him, the most recent being a robbery in Jalaun district on May 18.
