Heavy rains in Mumbai [ Images ] and its suburbs disrupted air services from the metropolis with most airlines reporting a delay of anywhere betweeen half-an-hour and two hours.
However, no flight has been cancelled so far.
"All operations are normal as of now. The average delay is just about 30 minutes," a Mumbai International Airport Limited official told PTI in Mumbai on Tuesday.
There was considerable delay in flights in the morning as the MIAL authorities had shut down a runway due to low visibility.
The runway was shut for just 15 minutes between 8.15 and 8.30 am, the spokesperson said.
Private carrier Jet Airways' [ Get Quote ] flights were the most badly affected with most of its services reporting a delay of one to two hours.
Other airlines reported on an average a half-hour delay.
"We have the maximum number of flights operating to and from Mumbai airport. But much more than that, it is because one delay causes a chain delay in other flights," a Jet official said.
