In the third such offence in a month, a 25-year-old woman tourist from Switzerland was allegedly raped by the owner of a hotel in Pushkar.
The proprietor of Hotel Nanu Garden Nanuram Rawat was arrested on Saturday and the woman has been sent for a medical examination, Ajmer superintendent of police Anand Srivastava said.
He said the Swiss tourist came to his office and lodged a complaint alleging that the owner of the hotel where she was staying sexually assaulted her.
Following her complaint, an FIR was registered under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and a police team was sent to arrest Rawat, the SP said.
The alleged rape comes 10 days after a guest house owner in Pushkar was arrested on the charge of raping a 40-year-old British freelance journalist and a priest's relative was held for allegedly molesting an American woman tourist in Udaipur.
This is the third incident of rape of a foreign tourist in the town, famous for the Brahmsarovar, Lord Brahma temples and livestock fair, in less than a year.
A Japanese woman was raped and robbed of Rs 54,000 by the manager of another local hotel and three of his accomplices on April 2, 2007.
