Lashing out at actor-turned politician Vijaykanth's bid to usurp late M G Ramachandran's legacy, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Thursday declared that the party led by her has the "true legacy" of the leader.
"We can make instant coffee, but we cannot produce instant leaders in politics," she said, taking a swipe at Vijayakanth, without naming him, while addressing party cadre in Ramavaram Gardens in Chennai, where AIADMK founder MGR lived.
After paying tributes to the leader on the occasion of his 91st birth anniversary, she said, "I am the true political heir of MGR. We are running the AIADMK party founded by him. I am its general secretary. Nobody can claim any right over his legacy.".
Earlier, she was greeted by thousands of partymen who swarmed MGR's residence.
Jayalalithaa paid homage to the leader at his memorial. She also spent some time in the house and interacted with the family members.
