Shiv Sena executive President Uddhav Thackeray has accused migrants of bringing disrepute to Mumbai.
Reacting to Juhu molestation case, in which 14 accused were granted bail, Thackeray said in a statement in Saturday's issue of his party mouthpiece Saamna that the police should trace the actual culprits. He said that the Shiv Sena would not tolerate atrocities against women.
He pointed out that the city police could not be blamed for the molestation of two women outside a five star hotel in the wee hours of New Year.
"In fact, this happens due to the non-existence of a government at the helm of affairs. Outsiders coming to Mumbai fear nothing. They have put Mumbai's prestige to dust. The Shiv Sena will protect Mumbai and its women," he said.
Saturday's issue of the organ prominently carried reactions of the families of the 14 accused in the molestation case in which they have said that the accused were innocent and were caught on camera when they rushed to the spot on hearing the commotion.
