Talks between the Pejawar seer Vishwesha Thirtha swamiji and Sugunendra Thirtha swamiji of Puthige mutt held in Udipi on Tuesday night to hammer out a solution over the latter ascending the Parayaya peetha in a week's time to perform pooja at Sri Krishna temple failed.
Pejawar seer, who has been opposing Sugunendra ascending the Parayaya peetha saying the pontiff was not eligible after his trips abroad, stuck to his stand declaring, "I strongly oppose diluting the harmless tradition which is not harming the society".
Vishwesha Thirtha swamiji, however, shifted the responsibility to two other mutts, and said, "If the pontiffs of Sri Krishnapur mutt, whose two-year term ends on January 17 and Palimar mutt agree and support Puthige seer, I will also support".
Pejawar seer asserted that Asta Muts had the right to interfere in Sri Krishna mutt issue and everyone should abide by the majority decision.
Ruling out moving the court to resolve the row, Vishwesha Thirtha swamiji said it would be solved by the asta mutt heads.
Meanwhile, Puthige seer said he would meet Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha swamiji of Parayaya Krishnapur mutt and hold discussions.
