The Centre will set up 1 lakh community centres, equipped with Internet facilities and other advanced technology at panchayats across the country.

It was disclosed by Union Minister of State for Communication Shakeel Ahmad on Saturday in Patna, Bihar.

"One community centre will be set up in 1 lakh panchayats across the country," he said.

Ahmad told rediff.com the Centre was committed to bringing the benefits of the IT boom to grassroots level and all efforts were being made to achieve the mission.
