The proposed North East Water Resources Agency would result in the reduction of the region's share of the resource, Bharatiya Janata Party National Secretary Khiren Rijiju said.
The reported attempt to club North Bengal and form a new agency in place of the existing Brahmaputra Board indicated that the central government was anti-Northeast, he said.
Even Members of Parliament from assam had opposed the move, but the United Progressive Alliance was determined to go ahead, Rijiju claimed.
He said that it was only because of the opposition of the Arunachal Pradesh government that the move has been put on hold as of now.
He also alleged that another package of allotting time to tribal languages for the All India Radio had been pushed to the back burner.At least 100 languages were still to be represented in the radio broadcast, but Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi had rejected the proposal, he claimed, while releasing the poll manifesto of the party for the March 3 Meghalaya elections.
