Citizens' gesture floors Mumbai cops

It was a rare sight. May be something like this was never seen before. Even as the crowd cheered for the Mumbai Police, the men in uniform were quite content and applauded the citizens for taking to the street to protest the recent terror attacks and the lack of sense shown by politicians after that.

"We should always unite like this. We must stop the blame game and fight together against terrorists," a delighted senior Inspector Sanjay, who was posted outside the Regal theatre, told rediff.com even as a huge gathering applauded them.

Mumbai says Quit India again

Never did the policemen show anger or frustration on having to oversee the huge crowd amidst the prevailing tension in the city.

"I am happy because people are appreciating our hard work. This will help raise our courage and determination, and we will work with more passion," he said.

'This is like the fall of Berlin wall'

Mumbai Police lost few of its men during the three-day standoff against terrorists. However, the citizens' gesture, he said, will prove to be a big motivational factor in their fight against terror.

"I never thought such a huge crowd would turn up. It is a good sign that we are united. This is an attack not just on Mumbai but on the entire nation, and all Indians should support the government, whoever's it is."
