The Pakistan Muslim League N has agreed to extend the deadline for the restoration of deposed judges till Wednesday, said party chief Nawaz Sharif.
The PML-N took the decision after Pakistan's ruling coalition, led by the Pakistan Peoples Party, held a meeting in Islamabad on Friday to resolve the contentious issue.
Judges row leaves Pak government tottering
Former premier Nawaz Sharif, whose Pakistan Muslim League-N is the second largest party in the ruling coalition, had threatened to pull out of the alliance if the government does not act by today to reinstate the judges sacked by former president Pervez Musharraf during last year's emergency.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan held talks with Sharif today afternoon to find ways to address the PML-N's differences with PPP on the modalities for reinstating the judges.
The matter is also expected to figure at a meeting of the PPP's Central Executive Committee that will be held later today at the residence of party chief Asif Ali Zardari.

The PML-N and PPP had agreed on August 7 that the deposed judges would be reinstated immediately after the ouster of Musharraf from office. After Musharraf resigned on Monday to avoid impeachment by the ruling coalition, the PML-N asked the PPP to deliver on this commitment by August 22.
Sharif threatens to pull out of Pakistan coalition
The PML-N has stuck to its stand that the judges should be reinstated through a parliamentary resolution and an executive order issued by the Prime Minister.
The PPP, which had earlier linked the judges' restoration to a controversial constitutional reforms package, has now said that it plans to resolve the matter through a parliamentary debate.
A resolution in this regard will be moved in the National Assembly or the lower house of parliament in a couple of days, PPP leader and Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said.
