Nalini, one of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, on Wednesday moved the Madras High Court, seeking her early release from prison.
The petition was filed by one of Nalini's counsels and it is likely to be taken up for hearing today evening by Justice Jothimani.
In her petition, she contended that since her death sentence was commuted to life, she had already served 17 years in prison.
Since the life sentence was only up to 14 years, Nalini stated that she had served in Vellore prison more than the stipulated period, and hence sought her release.
