A Hindu worker in a Pakistani factory was allegedly beaten to death on Tuesday by his Muslim colleagues, who accused him of passing blasphemous remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
Jugdesh, 22, and other employees at the factory situated in the Korangi industrial area in Karachi were discussing some religious issue and he made some remarks about the Prophet that were considered offensive by the other men. His remarks angered the Muslim workers who beat him to death, police said.
Police officer Farukh Bashir said that approximately 4,000 people gathered at the site of the incident, creating a law and order problem.The police dispersed the crowd and shifted Jugdesh's body to Jinnah Hospital for an autopsy.
Bashir said that Jugdesh was beaten to death apparently because of the derogatory remarks he had made about the Prophet.
He said a case will be registered to investigate the incident and those involved in it will be arrested.
