Seventeen Tibetans were arrested on Saturday for trying to cross into China from the cold desert region of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tibetan refugees in the Buddhist majority Leh district of Ladakh have been carrying on daily protests since the past one month against the alleged Chinese excesses in Tibet.
Police said a group of 15 men and two women was intercepted and arrested in the border village of Humua in Leh district.
"A case has been registered against them," a police spokesman said in Srinagar.
