Though her party has been sharing some views of the Sangh Parivar -- including its opposition to the demolition of Ram Sethu -- the time is not ripe for an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalaithaa said.

"The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is not in a hurry to forge an alliance with any political party at this time," Jayalalithaa said in an interview to Times Now.

Asked if she thought the Lok Sabha polls were round the corner, Jayalalithaa said situation is fluid. "We do not know when elections will take place. We do not know whether there will be general elections to the Lok Sabha and simultaneous polls to the Tamil Nadu assembly. We will discuss the issue of alliance at the time of elections."

On Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's charge that the AIADMK, along with the BJP and other Sangh Parivar outfits, is out to stall the Sethusamudram project using the Ram Sethu issue, she said, "I'm not part of Sangh Parivar. I've no alliance with the BJP. We are an independent party with our own ideologies and convictions. This accusation is not relevant as far as my party is concerned."

Denying that she had remained silent and allowed the BJP to take the centre stage in the opposition to Karunanidhi's remarks against Lord Ram, Jayalalithaa said she was one of the first to condemn the statement.

"If a common man had made the remark, by now an FIR would have been filed against him and he would've been arrested. Karunanidhi should resign or the Centre should drop his ministers from the Union cabinet and dismiss the minority government, she said.
