The government on Monday sent its response to the Left parties on their apprehensions over the Indo-US nuclear issue, which would be taken up for discussion at the UPA-Left Committee meeting on Wednesday.
"We have received the government's response. We are studying it. We will give our reply to it at the committee meeting on September 19," CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury said.
The government sent its reply to the five-page note sent to it jointly by the Left parties late last week. Left sources said they would hold consultations among themselves as well as with the scientific community to prepare for the meeting on Wednesday.
The exchange of views between the government and its supporting parties came as the general council meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) began in Vienna. The Left parties warned the government that it should not go ahead with operationalising the 123 agreement before the UPA-Left Committee finalises its views.
