Shiv Sena Executive President Udhav Thackeray, along with a delegation from his party, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.

According to party sources, the two sides discussed the Justice Rajinder Sachar committee report. The delegation urged Dr Singh not to vitiate the atmosphere by trying to implement the findings of the commission.

The prime minister's response to the Sena's request is not known as yet.

Udhav will also meet Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani. His meeting with Advani assumes greater significance as both sides are keen to patch up their differences that surfaced during the election of Pratibha Patil as President of India.

"We hope that the two parties will be able to sort out their differences and work together," said a senior ranking Shiv Sena Member of Parliament before the two Houses were adjourned sine die on Monday.

The two leaders are also expected to give final touches to the strategy to be adopted in case the country heads for a mid-term poll on the issue of implementation of the Indo-US nuclear deal.
