Nearly three weeks before her husband Rizwanur Rehman's death, his wife Priyanka Todi had told the Kolkata police that if anything happened to her husband, her industrialist father Ashoke Todi would be responsible.
Both Rizwanur and Priyanka had conveyed this in a letter written on September 3 to then Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) Ajoy Kumar.
"On September 3, Priyanka and Rizwanur gave a letter where she clearly mentioned that if anything happened to them her father would be responsible for it," said Rukbanur Rahman, the elder brother of the computer graphics teacher who was found dead on September 21, barely a month after he married Priyanka.
However, when Priyanka was questioned by the Bengal Crime Investigation Department and the Central Bureau of Investigation she did not speak against her family.
"She wanted to stay with Rizwan but she did not speak against her family. She is traumatised and only said that her family didn't pressurise her," ADGP (CID) Bhupinder Singh had said after questioning Priyanka on Septemebr 28, four days after the West Bengal government handed over the case to the CID.
Later, CBI officers also had a similar experience when they questioned Priyanka.
