Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty were among the nine top film stars who were questioned by the Mumbai police in connection with a case involving an aide of underworld don Chhota Shakeel.
The questioning was conducted to check if they had performed in a dance show in the United Arab Emirates organised by Iqbal Attarwala, an aide of Shakeel, under any pressure by him, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria told reporters in Mumbai on Friday.
"We had called them for inquiry if they had gone to the UAE under a proper contract, out of love and affection for the producer or under pressure by various elements," Maria said.
The police questioned Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, Urmila Matondkar, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Esha Deol and Malaika Arora, he added.
Maria said police would also soon question actor Sunil Shetty whose company Popkorn Entertainment produced the dance show and celebrity exhibition cricket matches.
"All of them have asked for time from us to submit their MoU's and contracts. We would also be questioning cricketers who had played in the cricket matches and have sought videotapes of the matches," he said.
However, he did not mention the names of the cricketers.
