The Todis had offered a blank cheque to Rizwanur Rehman's family to separate him from his Hindu wife, Priyanka, but they refused to accept it, the deceased computer graphics teacher's elder brother Ruqbanur Rehman said on Thursday.
"Even a driver of the Todi family had subsequently offered any amount," he said.
"Priyanka's uncle Pradip Todi had offered a blank cheque to separate the couple at the outset. There was no financial transaction with the Todis. If we were to take money, we would have accepted the blank cheque in the first place," Rehman said.
Ruqbanur's statement came following media reports that money had changed hands between the family members of Rizwanur and the Todis.
"This is a conspiracy by those who do not want the truth to come out," he said, adding that he was satisfied with the Central Bureau of Investigation.
"We don't think that any CBI officer has said this and it was fabricated by a section of the media," he said. Replying to a question he said, "The CBI has not asked for details of his bank account. To another query if the CBI was investigating his uncle's bank account, he said, "We don't know."
Meanwhile, CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar refused to add anything on the allegations, saying, "Apart from that (the checking of the bank accounts of the family members), I can't say anything."
Meanwhile, the CBI team checked the bank accounts of the family.
