Accusing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his government of 'misleading' the nation on the nuclear deal issue, Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday demanded a clear-cut statement on what they intended to do and vowed to press for voting on the matter if a special session of Parliament is convened.
The Opposition party, which disrupted most of the sittings of the previous Parliament session, said it will participate in the debate on nuclear deal.
"The government is confused," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told media persons while reiterating his party's opposition to the agreement with the US.
Alleging that the prime minister and the government are 'giving misleading statements on the nuclear deal,' he said they are not telling, either the nation or even the US, what they want to do.
BJP wants to know in clear terms what the government intends to do with the deal, Javadekar said while noting that the US was also 'setting deadlines' on the issue.
On whether the BJP would allow a debate on nuclear deal if a special session of Parliament is called, he said: "Of course. We will take part in a debate because we want to expose the government which has surrendered the country's independent foreign policy."
The party will, however, demand voting on the issue, the BJP spokesman said.
Javadekar also sought to play down reports that the Third Front was scouting for 'like-minded' parties within NDA and UPA.
"In a democracy, everyone is free to make an attempt but the post-election politics is slated to be bipolar," the BJP spokesman insisted.
He, however, agreed that consolidation among various parties could take place in run up to the elections. The saffron party also demanded quashing of the government order conferring second language status on Urdu in Jharkhand.
