After former prime minister H D Deve Gowda rejected the transfer of power in Karnataka to the Bhartiya Janata Party on Friday in one-to-one meeting with BJP president Rajnath Singh, the party has just one option now: withdraw support to the H D Kumaraswamy's Janata Dal (S) government in Karnataka.

The BJP parliamentary board will meet at 11.30am  to take a final decision on withdrawing support, sources said.

According to BJP sources, Rajnath Singh, who had been pinning hopes on the meeting with Gowda, was "deeply upset" with the outcome. He had made it clear that B S Yediyruppa would be the next chief minister.

But Gowda had other plans and reportedly told Singh bluntly that the latter could "forget about transfer of power".

The state is heading for President's rule, sources said.
