Congress on Monday sought to ignore the pulling up of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Tamil Nadu government by the Supreme Court on the bandh issue, maintaining that the apex court has "not reduced to writing the observations in a judicial order."

"The matter is yet to be listed and we have a right to reserve our comment till a written judicial order is passed," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said in reply to a volley of questions on the issue, insisting that it was incorrect to assume that some order has been passed against the state government.

The DMK is a key ally of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance at the Centre.

Asked about the DMK going in for hunger strike, he said Congress believes in all democratic forms of dissent provided there is no violation of the law of land and they are permitted within the four corners of the Constitution.

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the state government, warning that if it did not comply with its order on the bandh, it would not hesitate to direct the Centre to impose President's rule.
