The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday night made it clear that it expects Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to hand over his resignation letter to Governor Rameshwar Thakur by Tuesday evening.
"Honour the committment or just forget about the coalition," declared senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha in Bangalore on Monday.
"There is no further scope for negotiations on power transfer," he added. Sinha also indicated that the BJP is not prepared to wait beyond October 3 for the transfer of power.
Sinha made it clear that if the JD-S didn't honour its commitments, the BJP was ready to face mid-term polls.
The BJP leader laid down the three conditions which the JD-S was expected to honour: BS Yediyurappa should become the chief minister, Kumaraswamy should submit his resignation to the governor and there should be no change in portfolios after the transfer of power.
Sinha also said that there was no question of re-negotiating with JD-S supremo Deve Gowda. However, he added that the BJP was still open to talks.
Sinha said that the matter will be discussed further with senior BJP leaders at the state level and the national level. His comments clearly indicated that the talks between him and Deve Gowda have failed.
