An Army jawan committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in the Nagorta-based 16 Corp headquarters in Jammu, defence sources said.
Sepoy M Rajesh, who was on guard duty, shot himself with his service rifle early on Monday morning, said the sources. After hearing the sound of gun shots, several officers and jawans rushed to the sentry post and found Rajesh lying in a pool of blood.
They rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, said the sources. Twenty-two-year-old Rajesh belonged to Bangalore, they added.
A court of inquiry will investigate the reason behind his suicide, said Army sources.
