A sessions court in Mumbai sentenced fake stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi to seven years rigorous imprisonment on Friday for the murder of his driver Christopher Bhatti.
Bhatti's body was found near the Mahim Creek in 2001.
The police had initially arrested Telgi and six of his associates, but two of them were let off without lack of evidence.
Four of them were found guilty for culpable homicide and sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
The prosecution alleged that Telgi, along with four of his associates, killed Bhatti because the latter had some information about the confidential business dealings of Telgi's stamp paper scam.
According to the police, Telgi also suspected Bhatti of secretly siphoning off his funds.
Telgi, who was present in the court, requested Judge U D Salvi to pardon him on the ground of his ill health.
Telgi is HIV + and he has already been sentenced to life in connection to the multi-crore stamp paper scam.
