Describing the slain head of LTTE political wing S P Thamilselvan as an extra-ordinary son of our nation, Tamil Tigers' reclusive supreme V Prabhakaran on Tuesday charged that the international community contributed to his killing by only paying "lip service to peace".
"Had the international community firmly and unambiguously condemned the anti-peace activities and the war-mongering of the Sinhala regime, Thamilselvan would have been alive today," Prabhakaran said in his annual Heroes Day' speech on his 53rd birthday.
Thamilselvan had died in a raid by the Sri Lankan Air Force on a high-profile gathering of the LTTE leaders in the rebel-dominated Kilinocchi in northern Sri Lanka earlier this month.
"By only paying lip service to peace, the international community has contributed to the killing of an extra-ordinary son of our nation Thamilselvan," Prabhakaran said.
